The screening and approval of 23 commissioner nominees to constitute Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s cabinet have been completed by the Adamawa State House of Assembly.

Among the 23 individuals nominated for the commissioner positions, six have previously served as commissioners, while two are female. The official confirmation was carried out after the House completed the screening process for the final group of commissioner-designates.

Speaker Bathiya Wesley instructed the clerk to communicate the House’s decision to the executive governor for further action. He commended his colleagues for the successful completion of the screening process. This procedure is stipulated in the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, and Wesley emphasized that individuals designated for roles in the state executive council are required to undergo screening and confirmation by the legislative body.

The initial batch of commissioner nominees underwent screening on August 1, 2023, while the remaining nominees were screened on August 2, 2023, as scheduled by the House leadership.

The selection process was based on the nominees’ past achievements, expertise, and qualifications. Among the commissioner nominees who were screened in the second batch are Ibrahim Mijinyawa (Yola North); Barr. Wali Yakubu (Madagali); Musa Mahmud (MayoBelwa); Usman Abdullahi Lamorde (Mubi South); Mrs. Wunfe Brina Anthony (Guyuk); Dr. Umar Garba Pella (Hong); and Barr. Bello Hamman Diram (Yola South).

Others who successfully passed the screening include Chief Felix Tangwami (Demsa); Titus Solomon (Lamurde); Anthony Garba Pindimso (Toungo); Mrs. Neido Geofrey kofulto (Numan); Ibrahim Haruna (Shelleng); and Ayuba Audu Tanko (Mubi North).
