On Wednesday, the Adamawa government inaugurated a committee responsible for the distribution of palliatives, appointing Auwal Tukur, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), as its chairman. During the committee’s inauguration in Yola, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta, emphasized the importance of the committee serving all residents of the state, regardless of their origin.

The governor underscored that the state government established the committee with the understanding that the state itself is a collective endeavor, urging people to view Adamawa as a shared project rather than emphasizing their individual backgrounds.

Governor Fintiri also emphasized the need for the committee to fulfill its designated responsibilities. He instructed them to develop effective plans for transporting both food and non-food palliatives from their source to distribution points. The committee is also tasked with monitoring the process, collaborating with relevant stakeholders or community representatives, and ensuring that the palliatives are fairly distributed among the intended beneficiaries across all 21 local government areas. The governor stressed the importance of conducting the distribution smoothly, without any bias or incidents of violence, and encouraged the committee to involve additional individuals or groups if they could contribute to the success of the endeavor.

Mrs. Farauta, expressing gratitude on behalf of the committee, acknowledged the governor’s trust in their abilities to serve in this capacity. He assured that the committee would dedicate itself to ensuring a seamless distribution process throughout the state, aimed at alleviating the impacts of the removal of the fuel subsidy.
